Diapers: frequently asked questions
How many diapers does a newborn need per day?
A newborn typically uses 10 to 12 diapers per day in the first month, dropping to 8 to 10 per day by three months. Plan for roughly 300 diapers in the first month — bulk sizes work out significantly cheaper per diaper.
What size diaper should I buy for a newborn?
Start with Newborn (NB) size for babies under 4.5 kg. Most babies move up to Size 1 within 2–4 weeks, so don't overstock on NB — buy one pack, then a larger stock of Size 1.
How often should I change my baby's diaper?
Change your baby's diaper every 2 to 3 hours during the day, and after every feed and every poo. Frequent changes prevent nappy rash, which is more common in Nigeria's warm, humid climate.
